Who needs a visa?
Estonian citizens
Estonian citizens can enter Kazakhstan without a visa with an ordinary passport for up to 30 days. The total stay under the visa-free regime must not exceed the limits set by Kazakhstan.
EU citizens
The visa regime for European Union citizens depends on the specific country and passport type. In many cases, a short visa-free stay is available, but the conditions should be checked before travelling.
Ukrainian and Russian citizens
Russian and Ukrainian citizens can enter Kazakhstan without a visa for up to 90 days. Additional procedures may be required for work, study, long-term stay or other special purposes.
Stateless persons
Stateless persons, including holders of an Estonian grey passport, must arrange a visa before travelling to Kazakhstan.

Processing times
The preparation time depends on the visa type. As a rule, completing the application form and coordinating with the consulate takes 1–3 working days.

How to prepare for the trip
Check
Check whether you need a visa. It is important to consider your citizenship, passport type, travel purpose, length of stay and whether you have a host party in Kazakhstan.
Documents
Check the validity of your passport, prepare documents confirming the purpose of travel, your route, accommodation confirmation and, if necessary, medical insurance.

Before departure, check the current entry rules and make sure that the host party is aware of the obligation to notify the migration service.
Required documents
1. Visitor visa
- Passport. The passport must have at least 2 blank pages for the visa.
- Copy of both sides of the ID card issued in Estonia (this can be made free of charge at our visa centre).
- Invitation registered with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan (not required for persons born in Kazakhstan).
- Documents proving family relationship, if the trip is connected with relatives in Kazakhstan.
- Round-trip flight booking or other travel documents.
At our visa centre, the following can be prepared when submitting the application: - Photo 3.5 × 4.5 cm.
- Visa application form signed by the applicant (you may complete the form in advance).
- Medical insurance for the entire trip.
A B10 visitor visa can be single-entry for up to 90 days or multiple-entry, depending on the grounds and the applicant's category. Former compatriots may be eligible for a multiple-entry visa for a longer period.
Stateless persons born in Kazakhstan can apply for a visitor visa for up to 90 days without an invitation. Stateless persons whose parent or parents are ethnic Kazakhs can apply for a visa for 1 year. This option is exempt from the consular fee; the service fee is 60 €.
2. Business visa
- Passport. The passport must have at least 2 blank pages for the visa.
- Copy of both sides of the ID card issued in Estonia (this can be made free of charge at our visa centre).
- Invitation registered with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.
- Documents confirming the business purpose of the trip: participation in a conference, exhibition or negotiations, conclusion of contracts, provision of consulting services, installation, repair or technical maintenance of equipment.
- Round-trip flight booking or other travel documents.
At our visa centre, the following can be prepared when submitting the application: - Photo 3.5 × 4.5 cm.
- Visa application form signed by the applicant (you may complete the form in advance).
- Medical insurance for the entire trip.
Business visas in categories B1, B2 and B3 are issued depending on the purpose of travel. This may include participation in events, business negotiations, conclusion of contracts, consulting services, installation, repair or technical maintenance of equipment.
A single-entry business visa may be issued for up to 90 days. The permitted period of stay depends on the visa category: usually up to 30 or up to 60 days. A multiple-entry business visa may be issued for up to 180 days or up to 1 year, depending on the category and the grounds for travel.
3. Tourist visa
- Passport. The passport must have at least 2 blank pages for the visa.
- Copy of both sides of the ID card issued in Estonia (this can be made free of charge at our visa centre).
- Invitation confirming the tourist purpose of the trip, registered with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan.
- Round-trip flight booking or other travel documents.
- Hotel booking or hotel bookings for the entire stay.
At our visa centre, the following can be prepared when submitting the application: - Photo 3.5 × 4.5 cm.
- Visa application form signed by the applicant (you may complete the form in advance).
- Medical insurance for the entire trip.
A B12 tourist visa is intended for persons travelling to Kazakhstan as tourists. A single-entry tourist visa may be issued for up to 90 days with the right to stay for no more than 30 days.
4. Transit visa
- Passport or other travel document. The passport must have at least 2 blank pages for the visa.
- Copy of both sides of the ID card issued in Estonia (this can be made free of charge at our visa centre).
- Travel documents for the route through Kazakhstan.
- A valid visa or other confirmation of the right to enter the destination country, if required.
- If transit is by private vehicle, a driving licence and documents confirming the right to drive the vehicle are required.

- Visa application form signed by the applicant (you may complete the form in advance).
- Medical insurance for the entire trip.
A B13 transit visa is intended for transit through the territory of Kazakhstan. A single-entry transit visa may be issued for up to 90 days with the right to stay for no more than 5 days in one direction.
5. International transport operations
- Passport or other travel document. The passport must have at least 2 blank pages for the visa.
- Copy of both sides of the ID card issued in Estonia (this can be made free of charge at our visa centre).
- Permits for the motor vehicle to travel through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
- Copy of the permit for international transport operations.
- Copy of the driving licence.
- Vehicle documents.

- Medical insurance for the entire trip.
A B4 visa is intended for persons carrying out international road transport operations. A single-entry visa may be issued for up to 90 days with the right to stay for up to 30 days, while a multiple-entry visa may be issued for up to 1 year with the right to stay for no more than 30 days on each entry.
The visa holder must enter and leave Kazakhstan only by transport corresponding to the category of the visa obtained.
6. Documents for visa-free travel
- Passport or other travel document suitable for travelling to Kazakhstan.
- Documents confirming the purpose of the trip: accommodation booking, invitation, business documents or other confirmations if necessary.
- Contact details of the host party, hotel or address of stay in Kazakhstan.
- Medical insurance for the entire trip.
If your citizenship allows visa-free entry, a visa application does not need to be submitted before travel. At the same time, it is important to follow the permitted length of stay and to note that the host party in Kazakhstan must notify the migration service of the foreign citizen's arrival.

General information about travelling to Kazakhstan
Visa-free entry
Estonian citizens can enter Kazakhstan with an ordinary passport for a short stay without a visa for up to 30 days. Russian and Ukrainian citizens are allowed up to 90 days. Conditions for citizens of other countries must be checked separately.
Stay limit
Under the visa-free regime, it is important to consider not only the length of one trip but also the total limit of stay in Kazakhstan. For several visa-free categories, the total stay must not exceed 90 days within 180 days and 120 days in a calendar year.
Notification of arrival
The host party — a hotel, landlord, organisation or private person — must notify the migration service of the foreign citizen's arrival within 3 working days.
